De Vlieger is especially for newcomer children, aged 4 to 12, who have just arrived in the Netherlands, both children from the AZC and children living outside the AZC.

Registration goes through the Dronten municipality (for children outside the AZC) or through COA (for children in the AZC). Parents can also contact the school themselves for an intake interview see Logging on to The Kite.

Children can join from the age of 4. For younger children, there is a Balloon playgroup at the AZC.

De Vlieger offers education until your child has sufficient command of Dutch and is ready for transfer to a regular primary school.

The language of instruction is Dutch, but we pay attention to children's home language to support their learning.

Besides learning the Dutch language, your child will also be taught maths, writing and social skills. In addition, we pay attention to integration, culture, citizenship and world orientation. In this way, we prepare children not only for school skills, but also for their role as active and involved world citizens.

Yes, there are weekly swimming lessons and sports lessons for different groups. The younger children also get gym lessons.

You report your child's illness before school via the parent app Kwieb or by phone to the school.

We encourage healthy snacks and lunch. Children receive regular school fruit and we ask parents not to bring sweets, soft drinks or chocolates.

Yes, as soon as your child speaks sufficient Dutch and is ready for regular education, we will guide the transfer to a regular school.
