Mission and Vision

At Taalschool de Vlieger, we dedicate ourselves daily to creating a safe, stimulating and meaningful learning environment for every child. We work from a clear vision in which the child is central, with an eye for development, well-being and connectedness. Based on current theories, scientific models and our daily practice, we build a school climate in which children feel seen, heard and appreciated. We do this together: with colleagues, parents and chain partners. In this way, we create a living and learning environment in which children can grow in self-confidence, knowledge and skills.

Our mission “Land in language, grow in confidence”

At Language School De Vlieger, we are building a school culture in which every pupil can achieve optimal learning. In a safe, calm
and structured learning environment, we assist pupils in acquiring the Dutch language, developing
basic skills and getting used to life in a new country.
We work together as one team and feel joint responsibility for all pupils. By working well together and
tuned, we offer pupils support and continuity in their development. Even when transferring to a new school, we remain
involved so that each child can continue to grow with confidence.
To achieve this, our professional team deploys knowledge and skills to make informed choices and education of
high quality. In this way, together we lay a solid knowledge base, with which pupils can confidently, resiliently and proudly enter the
world and face their future.

Our vision

We dream of a school where newcomers can develop children in a safe, rich learning environment that recognises and utilises their own language, knowledge and talents, after which they can move on to subsequent education in a promising way. This way, they grow into self-confident world citizens with a solid foundation and confidence in the future.

Every child is welcome

We want to offer every child a safe environment from day 1 and space to land

Room for intrinsic motivation

We want our teaching to create an environment in which we reinforce autonomy, relationship and competence.

Emotion comes before cognition

In addition to each child's challenges, we look at strengths, talents, well-being and meaning.

Looking behind behaviour

We want to see the child as a whole. We see that every behaviour has a function and consequence of a child's environment, learning experiences and personality.

Joint responsibility

We see that it takes a community to raise a child. We believe it is important to seek cooperation with pupils, parents and chain partners.

Child-oriented

We tailor our offer to the child's specific educational needs and work in a process-oriented way.

Engagement

We believe that every child deserves an inspired teacher.

Team-oriented

We are jointly responsible for educational quality with professionalisation as an important pillar.

Culturally sensitive

We respect and work from the child's cultural background, identity and personal values.
